چکیده

Yersinia pseudotuberculosis (Y. pseudotuberculosis) is a gramnegative facultative anaerobe bacillus that can grow at low temperature (4°C). Consequently, the quantity of bacteria in food after several days of conservation in a refrigerator increases dramatically. It belongs, together with its homologue Yersinia pestis, to the family of Enterobacteriaceae. Yersinia pseudotuberculosis strains can be divided into 5 different serotypes. Yersiniosis has a wide range of clinical manifestations. The commonest is a self limiting gastroenteritis [1], but more serious variants may occur, such as appendicitis like syndrome [2] or crohn like disease [3]. We describe a small bowel necrosis associated with Y. pseudotuberculosis infection.

Multiple Small Intestine Ulcers with Desquamation of the Fingers

A 73-year-old female was admitted to our hospital with abdominal pain and diarrhea. Computed tomography detected distension of the small intestine. A palmar erythema, multiple oral ulcers, and desquamation of the fingers appeared after hospitalization. Small-bowel endoscopic images showed multiple ulcers. We attributed this case to infection with Yersinia pseudotuberculosis based on the changes...

CHAPTER 1 History , clinical aspects , epidemiology of plague and characteristics of Y . pestis

DNA/DNA hybridization studies and 16SrDNA sequence analysis indicate that Y. pestis evolved from Yersinia pseudotuberculosis 1500 to 20,000 years ago. There are three primary clinical forms of Y. pestis infections in humans which without treatment exhibit a high incidence of death: bubonic plague, pneumonic plague, and septicemic plague. The designation "Black Plaque" is derived from extensive ...

Nod2 Mediates Susceptibility to Yersinia pseudotuberculosis in Mice

Nucleotide oligomerisation domain 2 (NOD2) is a component of the innate immunity known to be involved in the homeostasis of Peyer patches (PPs) in mice. However, little is known about its role during gut infection in vivo. Yersinia pseudotuberculosis is an enteropathogen causing gastroenteritis, adenolymphitis and septicaemia which is able to invade its host through PPs. We investigated the rol...

M-cell surface beta1 integrin expression and invasin-mediated targeting of Yersinia pseudotuberculosis to mouse Peyer's patch M cells.

Quantitative analysis of Yersinia pseudotuberculosis infection of murine gut loops revealed that significantly more wild-type bacteria associated with Peyer's patch M cells than with dome enterocytes or goblet cells. An invasin-deficient mutant was significantly attenuated for M-cell invasion, while beta1 integrin expression was demonstrated in the apical membranes of M cells but not enterocyte...

Reactive arthritis following Yersinia pseudotuberculosis infection.

Reactive arthritis after Yersinia pseudotuberculosis infection is rare. Two recent cases illustrate the typical features, and highlight the need to look for the diagnosis. CASE 1 A 19-year-old student presented with pain in her left hip for four days. She described pain in her right temporo-mandibular joint, neck stiffness for three weeks, tiredness, and loss of energy. Five weeks previously sh...
